The ultimate goal of the owners, the Quapaw Nation (formerly known as the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma), was to create a destination casino resort that would attract a wide range of visitors, spur economic development, and benefit the citizens who call this region home.

The opening has added about 100 new permanent jobs at the resort, and the hotel/spa expansion project created 400 construction jobs this year, giving a boost to the Tri-State Region's economy, according to a news release. The Downstream Casino Resort has opened its second hotel, the roughly $50 million 152-room Kappa Tower, in Miami, Okla., which includes the Nee Spa and other amenities.
